Fortnum & Mason sparkle with 20.20

Fortnum & Mason’s ambition was to create a destination for jewellery that celebrates both established and up-and-coming designers in a unique and authoritative way. 20.20 have created a concept that is sensitive to the Fortnum & Mason heritage and the craftsmanship of jewellery, whilst embracing the modernity and progressive attitude of an evolving department store.

The jewellery department has been given a new, more intimate location on the 2nd floor. Spanning across 120 m², including the Rock Vault exhibition, the interior is now a refined balance of tradition and modernity that compliments the beautiful new collections on offer at Fortnum & Mason. Bespoke furniture, cabinetry, hand drawn wallpapers and a special consultation space have helped to create a truly individual retail space.

Dan Leach, 20.20’s creative lead on the project said, “We have been able to create a treasure trove for the inquisitive Fortnum’s customer to discover. The blend of heritage and innovation that is evident both in product and environment helps to create a unique shopping experience. With the warm metallic palette, underlying residential feel and Fortnum’s trademark service, customers now have a jewellery department to feel at home in”.

20.20 worked closely with the Fortnum & Mason team to ensure that the broad spectrum of jewellery is showcased beautifully within illuminated cabinets and vitrines. These displays are highlighted by ornate antique picture frames, and accentuated by hand drawn panelling and an illustration by artist, Rory Dobner. Warm metallic drapery defines the room, whilst upholstered pads and vitrines glimmer subtly beneath an alluring array of pieces. Sleek cabinets contrast with the classical feature cabinet beneath the Swarovski chandelier, to further express the ‘old meets new’ with its turned timber legs and charcoal lacquer finish.

Sanela Lazic, Client Director at 20.20 said, “We are delighted to have had this opportunity to create something special for Fortnum & Mason. It was our joint ambition for the Jewellery Room to become the most tasteful jewellery destination in London, one that is a treat for customers and celebrates the collections. I believe the new department achieves that.”

Jo Newton, Head Fashion and Beauty Buyer at Fortnum & Mason, says: “The Jewellery Room exults beautiful design and style, offering pieces for every occasion and celebration with a variety of materials and price points. Customers can expect the usual Fortnum & Mason service and attention to detail in an elegant and luxurious environment.”

The new department opened on Friday 22nd March - enjoy!
