Thomson Cruises launch Discovery

Thomson Discovery, Snack Shack Restaurant

We have collaborated with our client Thomson Holidays in creating two new restaurant concepts aboard their soon to be launched Discovery liner.

Accommodating 1,830 passengers across 915 cabins, Thomson Discovery will be the largest ship in the company’s fleet. Guests will be able to choose from eight unique dining experiences, including Snack Shack and 47˚.

Situated on the pool deck, Snack Shack is a casual dining space bursting with colour and personality. It has an iconic British flavour with brightly coloured beach huts doubling up as dining booths. Each hut is named after a destination that the ship has visited. Diners also have the choice of eating their ‘festival style’ food on timber picnic benches and tables, in oversized deckchairs, or simply taking their snack back to poolside.

The service counter is also based on a beach hut structure and is made from corrugated metal panelling.

We have also created a new concept for the ship’s main dining area, which is rebranded as Gallery 47˚. The two-story space will provide a contemporary Italian offering. The brand takes its name from the nautical location where the ship was originally built and the logo reflects that using a square set at a 47˚ angle.

Combined, the spaces can handle 928 covers and provides a contemporary and refined dining experience.

The vast area has been broken up on both levels with glass divides to create more intimacy. Shades of blue to represent the ocean at both day and night are used throughout the lower level, whilst the upper level features sunset shades of orange, red and pink.
