Thomson in-store Holiday Portal trial launches at Bluewater

With multi-channel shoppers increasingly using both digital and real-world channels in their paths to purchase, our client TUI Travel wanted a simple way to connect their in-store customers with their online content and services.

In response we’ve launched an innovative in-store Holiday Portal in partnership with TUI and Omnifi. Visitors to the flagship Thomson Holiday Design Store at Bluewater can now use their mobile devices to access online content specifically designed to serve the needs of in-situ customers. Our aim is to encourage better informed and connected store visits, supporting sales staff as well as helping customers start their holiday journey.

The portal is a localised web-site that sits on top of the existing store WiFi. Users simply access the WiFi and are automatically directed to the Thomson Holiday Portal via their phone or tablet browsers.

The site is a bespoke responsive web design based on Omnifi’s core platform. It seamlessly links users to Thomson mobile web sites and assets, including holidaymaker apps. Phase One also offers a brochure request facility and links to 3rd party content like Trip Advisor.

In addition to providing trackable and store-attributable traffic to the app store and e-commerce sites, the Portal also allows us to generate anonymised footfall numbers, repeat visit rates and dwell times.
